Dr. Mulualem Wondafrash is a consultant neurosurgeon, medical educator, researcher, and Fellow of COSECSA with extensive experience in neurosurgical patient care, education, research, and service development in Ethiopia. He has previously served as Head of Neurosurgery at St. Paul Hospital Millennium Medical College and Head of Neurosurgery at Hawassa University College of Health Sciences. In these leadership roles, he was actively involved in developing neurosurgical services, training programs, quality improvement initiatives, and multidisciplinary patient care. His clinical interests include skull base surgery, pituitary and parasellar tumors, endoscopic transsphenoidal surgery, neuro-oncology, neurotrauma, complex cranial surgery, spinal surgery, and emergency neurosurgery. He has particular experience in the multidisciplinary management of complex skull base and pituitary lesions. His academic and research interests include neurotrauma, neuro-oncology, neurosurgical education, and the development of structured neurosurgical services and training programs in resource-limited settings. He has contributed to peer-reviewed research and remains actively involved in medical education and research. Beyond his clinical and academic work, Dr. Wondafrash is the founder of African Miracles Neurosurgery, an Ethiopian-based initiative providing free online neurosurgical and neurological consultation and education to patients and the wider community. He is committed to advancing safe, high-quality, and accessible neurosurgical care in Ethiopia and contributing to the development of neurosurgery across Africa
